Flying “Wau” or kites tests the skill of the players in making, raising and flying them. This is usually played by adult men. There is no fixed number of players although the more players there are the more enlivened the game is. The game is usually played on a wide and open field. The game requires a kite and a long coarse thread.

The flying of wau is also made into a competition. There is competition for the highest flying kite, the best skills of raising the kite, the kite that makes the most melodious sound, the most attractively coloured kite, the most beautifully decorated kite, and the wau that flies the straightest.
