Congkak is a game where players are required to place “seeds” (stone) in the row of holes made on a piece of wood called the congkak board. The aim of the game is to test the players’ skill in getting as many seeds (stones) owned by the opponent as possible. It is played by both men and women and by two people. The items needed to play this game is a Congkak Board, and “seeds” (stones, marbles etc.). The congkak board is an oval piece of boat shaped wood with 2 rows of seven holes facing each other called “Kampung” (village) and one additional hole at each end called “rumah” or house. Aside from the wooden board, this game requires 98 seeds. Marble, saga seeds, rubber seeds and small stones can also be used as seeds.
