EID-UL FITRI

This is a festival celebrated by the Malays and those of the Muslim faith. “Hari Raya Aidilfitri” or Eid-ul Fitri celebration begins with fasting in the month of Ramadhan. Throughout this month Muslims will fast during the day and perform the “tarawih” prayers at night. It is compulsory to give “Zakat Fitrah” (aims to be distributed to the needy), before the 1^st of Shawal, the day Eid-ul Fitri is celebrated. Eid-ul Fitri is welcomed with humility and gratitude. This is a time of forgiveness for Muslims where they will also visit each other to tighten the brotherhood bond. Open houses will be done to welcome guests.
