KUALA LUMPUR (April 15): Ten national-style Chinese primary schools gathered in the National Languages Bureau's Performing Arts Hall today to present the classic Chinese classics "The Romance of the Three Kingdoms" in the form of a Malay stage play.
The 10 schools participating in the drama viewing competition were from State Huawen Primary School, Jidan Hualian Huawen Primary School, Lesheng Huawen Primary School, Jiadong Huawen Primary School (1st School), Anbang Huawen Primary School, Qiuhua Huawen Primary School, and Kuncheng Huawen Primary School. The chairman of the Malaysian Cultural Center, Datuk Wu Hengcan, said that this year marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China. The Romance of the Three Kingdoms is one of China’s four famous works. The Malay stage play presented by Malaysians is given to Ma Zhong. She said that participating in the drama viewing competition can encourage students to explore this type of literary story more deeply, and also train students to become more self-disciplined and team-oriented.
Gao Yaoxuan, a teacher at Kuncheng Huawen Primary School (one school), also said that the participating students can not only learn Mandarin from this, but also learn Chinese classic literature stories.
